Are we in a bear market?

I still don’t understand how to tell between a market correction and a bear market but after reading of the massive sell-off on Thursday that seemed to me like people were taking profits.

And it seems there are different opinions on whether we’re on a correction or bear market, and they give a brief history of how long bear markets last (is 289 days).Whether we’re on a bear market or not, there are still ways to make profitable trades.
